Arkansas coach Bret Bielema was back at the Catfish Hole on Thursday night, hosting his weekly radio show.

Coming off the team’s most lopsided win of the season, a 63-28 victory over Tennessee-Martin, the questions and answers produced one of the more hopeful interviews of the season, especially with a trip to Mississippi looming Saturday.

Bielema touched on numerous subjects with media and fans, but the conversation started a nice little anecdote about an injured Arkansas favorite, running back Rawleigh Williams.

“Rawleigh had a follow-up with doctors this week. He couldn’t be in any better shape,” Bielema said, a fact that received a nice ovation from the hometown crowd.

“Rawleigh has got a neck brace, and he’s smiling from ear to ear. He’s just an incredible kid.”

The coach also laid out his expectations for the rest of the season, including his defense that should have their hands full with a talented Mississippi offense.

“Ole Miss is trying to score on every play,” Bielema said in admiration. “The two quarterbacks are very similar. (Chad) Kelly is an above average thrower. … It’s going to be a challenge. … We must put pressure on them (from the start). Pressure comes two ways: mental and physical.”

Unfortunately, the Razorbacks sit last in the SEC with just seven sacks (3.5 less than SEC leader DE Myles Garrett), so getting pressure on an on impressive Ole Miss O-Line may be a tall order for this squad.

Bielema finished by answering some more injury news, some of it positive, others less so.

“(Receiver) Jared Cornelius has got fresh legs. I really thought he was going to take that punt return TD,” the coach said.

In his first game back, Cornelius returned his only his punt return for 33 yards, nearly taking it to the house before getting tripped up at the UTM 12.

Bielema said tight end Drew Morgan, who left last week’s game with a shoulder injury, “looks really, really good.”

Bielema also said Jonathan Williams is progressing nicely but “won’t have an opportunity for us for the rest of the season.”

And finally, “Josh Williams has seven inch rod stuck in his leg. He won’t join us for spring.”

But maybe, next fall.
