Auburn's crazy touchdown catch brings back back memories for Alabama
You can always count on a crazy touchdown in the Iron Bowl.
This time it happened late in the third quarter when Auburn WR Jason Smith tipped a Jeremy Johnson pass – to himself. It wound up being 77-yard score, cutting Alabama’s lead to 19-13. It was Auburn’s longest play from scrimmage all season.

Two years ago, Auburn QB Nick Marshall had a passed tipped by an Georgia defender that wound up in the hands of Auburn WR Ricardo Louis for a 73-yard score that kept their unbeaten season alive. That Alabama game in 2013 was remembered for the crazy “Kick-Six” at the end, but it was Louis’ TD that kept the drive for a title alive.
Smith’s score had to look familiar to the Alabama faithful. Ole Miss scored on a similar play back in September during Ole Miss’ upset of Alabama. Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell tipped a pass that wound up in the hands of Quincy Adeboyejo for a score in the Rebels’ 43-37 victory.
