Auburn basketball landed its first transfer pickup of the 2022-23 offseason Saturday, adding a pledge from former FIU (Florida International) guard transfer Denver Jones.

Jones, one of the top pure scorers in the transfer portal, chose the Tigers over Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma DePaul and Florida State. He’ll be an important piece in replacing Wendell Green, who declared for the draft in early April.

This leaves next season’s potential guard lineup with KD Johnson, Tre Donaldson, high 4-star incomer Aden Holloway and Jones. That has to make just about any Tiger fan excited for next season.

Jones, who stands at 6-4, averaged 20.1 points for the Panthers last season, shooting nearly 48% from the field and 37% from range. He earned All-C-USA first team honors and has appeared in 59 total games across the first 2 seasons of his college career.

He will have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.
