Auburn has lost several players on the defensive side of the ball already this offseason.

On Thursday, the Tigers suffered some more attrition on that side of the ball, as a freshman defensive lineman announced he was entering the transfer portal.

As you can see below, Ian Mathews, a former 3-star recruit who signed with the Tigers’ 2021 recruiting class, took to Twitter to reveal he was exploring his options:

Mathews didn’t record any stats for the Tigers as a freshman in 2021. He was the No. 82 defensive lineman in the 2021 class and the No. 57 overall recruit from the state of Georgia, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Where he ends up next remains to be seen, but it seems his time on The Plains has come to an end.
