Auburn OC Chip Lindsey has big plans for new TE commit

Auburn picked up a commitment from 3-star TE John Samuel Shenker on Sunday.

The Colquitt County (Ga.) product was the first prospect offered by new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey. Shenker said Lindsey’s plans to use him multiple positions is what sold him on Auburn.

“Coach Lindsey thought I fit his style of play-calling perfectly because they run a lot of stuff where they use only one tight end,” Lindsey told AL.com earlier in the week. “When they do that, they don’t want to rotate people in… If I can do all three things they don’t have to rotate so it can be a fast-paced offense.”

Shenker measures 6-foot-3, 245 pounds. He is rated the No. 96 tight end and No. 199 Georgia recruit. Wesley Sinor of AL.com notes that Shenker had previously committed to Auburn to play baseball, but began focusing on football in his junior season. His highlights can be seen below:
