Sean White further cemented his role as Auburn’s starting quarterback last Saturday — but it wasn’t necessarily because of his stat line.

According to a report from 247Sports, White teammates and coaches raved his about toughness and leadership in the Tigers’ 51-14 win against Arkansas State. They pointed specifically to the sophomore’s willingness to go block downfield and escort running back Kerryon Johnson into the end zone on his electrifying 47-yard scamper.

“Things like that (trying to block on the touchdown run), that just shows his competitiveness,” Johnson said, according to 247Sports. “He wants to win. He really wants to win. He wants to be a leader on the team, so (when) you’ve got your starting quarterback out there lead-blocking for you, you notice things like that.”

Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee chimed in on the play as well, saying, “I think that’s what his teammates love about him.”

White hasn’t been too shabby with the ball in his hands, either. He has completed 61.4 percent of his passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 14 times for 58 yards.
