Auburn RB Shaun Shivers is already a legend on The Plains. Who can forget the time he ran over Alabama S Xavier McKinney and made his helmet pop off?

This fall, Shivers hopes to prove he’s more than a one-hit wonder. That one hit, of course, was a big one, as Auburn won the Iron Bowl.

However, per AL.com, Shivers hopes to become more of a leader in the backfield and with the team in general this year:

“That’s something I’ve always wanted to do, be a leader for the team and the program and just let people feed off my energy,” Shivers said. “I knew I wanted to step up because it was time. This year I just took on a big role. It’s time to step up this year and lead the team and just do what I’ve always done since growing up, be a leader.”

Shivers ran for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns with the Tigers in 2019, getting only 55 carries. He’s sure to get a bigger role this fall.

Shivers, a junior, will likely compete with sophomore DJ Williams for the starting running back job in 2020.
