Bo Nix comments on Auburn’s offseason addition of Caylin Newton

Auburn made headlines this offseason when it added a former Howard quarterback with a big name.
Of course, that addition was Caylin Newton, younger brother of Cam Newton.
An addition like this could lead to some animosity in the Auburn quarterback room, but according to Bo Nix, the opposite has proven to be the case as Newton has joined the team looking to help the younger players on the roster.
“Obviously, he’s older, so he brings great experience. Great knowledge and wisdom, kind of as a leader, to those that are younger than he is,” Nix said of Newton. “He’s done a great job of coming in and understanding the offense, and he’s learned it really quick. And obviously, I think him playing quarterback is going to help him a whole lot, just with our offense and picking things up. So he kind of has a quarterback mentality of learning everything, and I think that will help him moving forward.
“Caylin is extremely hard working. Obviously, he kind of came over here looking for a great opportunity and I think he found one. Knowing Caylin, he’s going to do whatever he can to help the team. He’s a great team player, great work ethic, great leader. So I’m really looking forward to seeing him on our team.”
Based on Nix’s comments, don’t be surprised if you see Newton on the field in several capacities for the Tigers this season.
