Bo Nix is in the middle of trying to decide which school is the best fit for him as he’s now a former Auburn quarterback, and an Auburn graduate in recent days.

Nix made his regular appearance on The Next Round Live to discuss the transfer portal process, and communication with Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss, and his former coach, Gus Malzahn of UCF.

Nix said that he wouldn’t have put his name in the portal if there was a chance of a return to Auburn. But he said he has a good relationship with Bryan Harsin, and credited Harsin’s system and coaching, along with Mike Bobo, for his development this past season.

“Myself entering the portal is a good chance to restart and have another start somewhere else, but yes, I’ve closed the door with Auburn, it was a great run, I enjoyed it, it was everything I ever wanted,” he said.

Nix was asked about speaking with Kiffin, and Nix admitted that he has texted with Kiffin.

“They’re in the middle of Sugar Bowl practice,” Nix said. “He’s obviously busy, and he’s obviously trying on his end, but he’s trying to win a game, too, and give Matt Corral his best chance to finish out his season. They’re trying to get to 11 wins themselves. I’ve spoken to a bunch of different coaches on the phone or text message, whichever one that is and he’s obviously not the only one. But I believe that I’m in a situation where when teams need a quarterback, I would like to believe that I can be that guy for them, so I would hope a lot of people in their situation would reach out.”

Nix also was asked about communicating with Malzahn.

“Coach Malzahn and I talked before I even got in the transfer portal,” Nix said. “And then he called me afterwards saying that he was kind of shocked, but he understood. Guys, I’ve talked to a lot of different coaches and a lot of outlets are open and Coach Malzahn and I had success, so I think that UCF being in a position they’re in with their quarterback leaving, why wouldn’t they reach out and stuff like that. There’s a lot of speculation and rumors, but I do believe I had it setup at Auburn and had a great situation there, so I wouldn’t go down, and I wouldn’t trade what I had at Auburn for anything else. I think UCF is a quarterback away from going undefeated in their league and having a great season, and I also think there’s other chances to go somewhere else and have a great situation. So you can go up or down. It’s a personal preference and it’s kind of tricky, because there’s a lot that goes into it.”

He has considered whether he wants to play for a school that is on Auburn’s schedule.

“It would obviously be tough to play Auburn, again, because of how much love I have for Auburn,” he said, referring to the emotional rollercoaster it would be. “I’ve thought about staying in the SEC, leaving the SEC, it’s an important decision, but it wouldn’t necessarily scare me from going to another school. The SEC West is a tough league, and it’s the toughest in college football.”
