There have been a myriad of changes at Auburn in recent weeks, and QB Bo Nix is right in the middle of them. He lost his coach, Gus Malzahn, prepared for the upcoming Citrus Bowl against Northwestern, and welcomed a new coach in Bryan Harsin.

“It’s been kind of a whirlwind the last few weeks… I think our guys have done a good job of sticking together,” Nix said.

Now that the bowl game is two days away, on Friday at 1 p.m. ET, Nix is especially focused on getting in the right mindset for the game. He shared those thoughts at a press conference on Wednesday.

“He’s let the team know we’re going to be in good shape and he’s gonna do his best to get coaches in here that are gonna be great for us,” Nix said of Harsin.

Nix has said he doesn’t allow himself yet to look ahead to the Harsin era.

“The bowl game is at the forefront of our minds, and it’s really important to not let this one slip by you,” Nix said. “To be too busy worried about the future and have this one slip past you.”

Nix said there haven’t been too many changes in terms of the offense with coordinator Chad Morris ahead of the bowl game.

“A few things might have changed, but other than that, on the field stuff is not anything too different,” Nix said. “We’re running the same scheme and the same plays.”

There hasn’t been rust in the limited time off, but Nix said muscle memory and workouts have been crisp since the regular season.

“We’re just focused right now on this game and what we have to do to win and after that, we can worry about next year,” Nix said. “But we’ve had a great week. We’ve really locked in and focused up and it hasn’t been too much for us, we haven’t been going for three straight weeks and it hasn’t really been a grind. We had a little break there and came back and really started practicing for Friday, and we’re really looking forward to finishing this season off.”
