Auburn quarterback Bo Nix’s father, Patrick, is a successful high school football coach. And that success has led him to a new big-time job.

According to Jordan Hill of the Opelika-Auburn News, Patrick Nix will be hired as the new head coach at Central-Phenix City on Tuesday afternoon. Nix spent the past three seasons at Pinson Valley, where he led the Indians to a 38-4 record. With his son playing quarterback, Nix also led them to Class 6A state championships in both 2017 and 2018.

Like his son, Nix played quarterback at Auburn. He was with the Tigers from 1992-95.

Prior to coaching in the high school ranks, Nix spent 16 years coaching at the collegiate level. He spent time as an assistant at Jacksonville State, Samford, Georgia Tech, Miami and Charleston Southern. He was also the head coach at Henderson State for two seasons from 1999-2000.

Nix will now try to lead Central, a successful program, to even more success. It has won 56 games over the past five seasons and won the Class 7A state championship in 2018. It lost in the state final this past season.
