Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin was happy to have former Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada in the program.

Harsin spoke at the 2022 SEC Media Days and praised Calzada for his work ethic and the impact he had on Auburn. Calzada left quite the impression on his new head coach:

“He has really been awesome,” Harsin said. “Every day he has been there, the work ethic, the focus, the opportunities to do more has really become his foundation.”

Calzada spent three seasons at Texas A&M before he left in the transfer portal in January. As a sophomore in 2021, Calzada passed for 2,185 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was an instrumental part in Texas A&M finishing the season with an 8-4 record. On Nov. 6, 2021, Texas A&M defeated Auburn, 20-3. In that game, Calzada passed for 192 yards.

When Auburn plays Texas A&M on Nov. 12, Calzada will be playing for the Tigers. Calzada will have to compete for the starting job but if he can win the position, he can lead the Tigers to a winning season.

In Harsin’s first season at Auburn, the Tigers struggled to win at the end of the season. The Tigers dropped the final five games of the season. With Calzada at quarterback, Harsin hopes to have a winning season in 2022.
