Auburn's Carl Lawson and Tray Matthews are out vs. Jacksonville State
The return of Carl Lawson didn’t even last an entire week before he returned to the training room.
Lawson changed the dynamic of the entire Tigers defense in the first half of last week’s win against Louisville, but left with a hip injury. According to AL.com, he’s been using crutches, which has to be a major concern for Auburn.
Coach Gus Malzahn has downplayed his injury, but with a reputation for stonewalling the media, it’s possible that Lawson’s hip is worse than he’s letting on.
Tray Matthews, another oft-injured player and a transfer from Georgia, is out for today’s game against Jacksonville State as well. Matthews starts at safety for Auburn.
Carl Lawson (hip) just got on Auburn's team bus using crutches to help support himself. He wasn't laboring on them but still using them.
