Carolina Panthers cut former Auburn RB
Former Auburn RB Cameron Artis-Payne is looking for a new team after the Carolina Panthers let him go on Friday, his agent reported.
A fifth-round draft pick in 2015, Artis-Payne has 491 career rushing yards and five touchdowns. His high-water mark for games played came two years ago when he appeared in 13. It appears the Panthers chose Jordan Scarlett and Reggie Bonnafon to be the primary backups to Christian McCaffrey.
At Auburn in 2014, Artis-Payne had 1,608 yards, which was the third-best rushing season in Auburn history, as he led the SEC at 123.7 yds/game. He was named to the first-team all-SEC team.
As teams shake out their rosters, and any injuries pop up early in the season, look for Artis-Payne to land with a new team soon.
The Panthers have informed my client Cameron Artis-Payne (@ThaRealKillaCam ) that he will be released as they cut down to 53. A great vet RB on the open market! 😤
