Dylan Cardwell’s decision to enter the 2023 NBA Draft was a surprising one from the start. Nevertheless, he went through the pre-draft process and waited until the early entry deadline was quickly approaching before making his final decision.

Wednesday evening, Auburn basketball officially announced Cardwell is indeed withdrawing from the draft. He will return for another season with the Tigers.

Listed at 6-foot-11 and 250 pounds, Cardwell was a rotational piece for Bruce Pearl’s squad a year ago. He appeared in 32 games but had just 1 start and averaged a little over 13 minutes per game. Cardwell averaged just 3.7 points per game but finished second on the team with 1.3 blocks and added 3.8 rebounds for the Tigers.

Cardwell’s decision is another bit of good news for Auburn, one team that has really benefited from the early entry window portion of the NBA Draft. With the deadline approaching, leading scorer Johni Broome announced he would return for another season while Jaylin Williams also revealed he would withdraw from the draft.
