In Week 1, Auburn was the only team to beat an opponent ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. The 27-21 win over Oregon in Dallas was thrilling to watch and sure to boost the 2019 outlook for many Tigers fans.

ESPN’s Football Power Index, however, is raining on the parade a bit. While Gus Malzahn’s squad moved up in the polls, the FPI is still projecting five losses for AU in 2019. In fact, ESPN’s “measure of team strength” metric doesn’t think the Tigers will make it out of September without a blemish on their record.

Here is Auburn’s chance to win the remaining scheduled games, per ESPN’s FPI:

  • Sept. 7 vs. Tulane – 92.4 percent
  • Sept. 14 vs. Kent State – 98.6 percent
  • Sept. 21 at Texas A&M – 44.6 percent
  • Sept. 28 vs. Mississippi State –73.8 percent
