Greg McElroy, like millions of college football fans across the country, is pondering what is going to happen in the 2025 season. With the transfer portal bigger than ever in college, the turnover for teams is truly different than it has ever been. Teams can be great one year, and then terrible the next season and vice versa.

One player on a new team is Jackson Arnold, who is now playing at Auburn after a disappointing season at Oklahoma. One area where the Tigers really struggled was getting consistent play at the quarterback position. Turnovers were a big issue at the position, as one of Auburn’s worst losses was against Oklahoma in a game the Sooners won 27-21 in large part because of late defensive touchdown.

While there are people think that Arnold and Auburn could be a perfect match, McElroy isn’t so sure that a ‘damaged’ Arnold can make a difference.

“I think he is damaged right now,” McElroy said on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. “No one can deny that. He was absolutely a damaged player last year and it is going to take a little while to get things rolling. We have seen this before. We have seen this in the NFL. It happens and it isn’t the first time it will happen, and it won’t be the last. Can you avoid the critical mistake that puts you on the bench to begin with? I don’t know the answer to that, and that’s what we are going to find out with Jackson Arnold.”

Auburn will hold its A-Day spring game on April 12.
