It’s no secret that Gus Malzahn and Chad Morris are close friends. The two met back in their days as high school coaches, long before they became rival coaches in the SEC West.

Malzahn publicly opined this year that he believed Morris could turn things around at Arkansas. Morris won’t be getting that chance, though, as UA decided to fire the second-year Hogs head coach on Sunday.

Malzahn meets with the local media every Sunday during the college football season. As you might expect, tonight he was asked to share his thoughts on Morris getting fired at Arkansas.

“I hate it for Chad,” Malzahn said. “He’s a wonderful person, a wonderful coach. He’ll bounce back. There’s no doubt he’ll bounce back. I just hurt for him.”

Morris was 0-14 against SEC teams in his tenure, including 34-3 and 51-10 losses’ to Malzahn’s Tigers.
