Recently, former Auburn coach Pat Dye went on Paul Finebaum’s show on the SEC Network and said he believes Auburn should move to the SEC East and Mizzou should move to the SEC West.

When Texas A&M and Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012, many wondered at the time why a team from Missouri was playing in the East.

Once Dye made his comments, though, it was inevitable that current Auburn coach Gus Malzahn would eventually be asked for his opinion on the matter.

And, instead of saying “no comment,” Malzahn told GridironNow.com that he thinks the idea makes some sense:

“You look at the map and obviously it makes sense,” Malzahn said before teeing off at the Regions Traditions Pro-Am, though he did acknowledge, “There’s a lot more to it than just the map and all that.”

Obviously, Mizzou might have a problem with moving to a division with Alabama and LSU no matter what the map says.

Still, if the SEC eventually expands again, Auburn could be on the move to the East and the Missouri Tigers could find themselves in the West.
