Hugh Freeze announces hiring of Auburn's new tight ends coach
Hugh Freeze has made it official. Ben Aigamaua is following Freeze from Liberty to Auburn, joining the AU coaching staff as tight ends coach.
Aigamaua has been linked to Freeze’s Auburn staff long before the hiring was made official.
“Ben played for me at Lambuth and has worked on our staff in various capacities over the past decade,” Freeze said in a program release. “He is a tireless worker and has developed into an excellent coach, teacher and recruiter. Ben has a unique ability to connect with people and will be a great mentor and coach for the tight ends room.”
Aigamaua held multiple titles at Ole Miss under Freeze (2012-16), including graduate assistant, offensive analyst and Assistant AD Community Relations. He remained with the Rebels for the 2017 and ’18 seasons after Freeze’s departure. When Freeze took the Liberty head coaching position, Aigamaua joined the Flames’ staff as tight ends coach.
“I’ve been blessed to play for Coach Freeze and be a part of his staff for over a decade,” Aigamaua said in Auburn’s announcement. “My family and I are excited to be joining the Auburn family and I’m thrilled to be coaching at this outstanding institution with such a great football tradition.”
Aigamaua was Liberty’s tight ends coach for the last 4 seasons.
