Hugh Freeze’s Auburn Tigers suffered a disappointing setback in Week 2.

The Tigers fell, at home, to the Cal Golden Bears, 21-14.

Unfortunately, the bad news wasn’t just confined to the final score. Stud freshman WR Cam Coleman and right tackle Izavion Miller both suffered injuries.

Originally, Freeze classified both players as “questionable,” and indicated Coleman was more likely to play in Week 3 than Miller. However, Freeze stated on his radio show on Monday that Coleman has a Grade II shoulder sprain and is “doubtful” to play this weekend.

Coleman’s absence would be a huge loss for the Tigers. The freshman WR leads the team with 115 receiving yards through 2 weeks and caught 2 passes for 53 yards in the Cal loss.

Without Coleman, Keandre Lambert-Smith, Malcolm Simmons, and Perry Thompson will be relied upon to step up in the receiving game.

The injuries are unfortunate for a Tigers’ team that is seeking to get back on track. The team started out hot in Week 1, dominating Alabama A&M 73-3. However, a loss to Cal in Week 2 casts some doubt on what this team can accomplish in the SEC this year.

In Week 3, the Tigers play the New Mexico Lobos before kicking off SEC play against Arkansas in Week 4. The Tigers and Lobos will kick off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
