James Franklin had plenty of reactions and comments about the SEC crew that officiated the Auburn game at Penn State last week. Now looking ahead to the next game against Villanova, Franklin had one more comment about the SEC officials.

“I think we have Big Ten officials this week,” he said. “So I don’t know if I would ever have said this before, but thank God.”

Lions 247 reported that the crowd at the State College restaurant where Franklin’s coaches show was being held responded with laughter on Thursday night.

Among the issues in the Auburn game was the officiating crew inexplicably cost the Nittany Lions a play by getting the downs confused following a questionable intentional grounding penalty on Penn State.

Before the SEC issued a statement about the play, Franklin after the game said he was frustrated about the communication before the mistake.

“They got (on) the headset, they talked to each other, they all agreed,” he said. “They ran it by replay — they agreed, as well. I don’t know what else I can do or what else I can say.”
