Junior college standout Marquise Gilbert was on the radar of a pair of SEC programs.
On Monday, the nation’s top JUCO safety announced his next destination, stating on a Twitter video that he would pledge to Auburn.
A Palm Coast, Fla. native, Gilbert was on the roster of Bethune-Cookman in 2019, playing in 3 games. He then transferred to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and earned all-conference honorable mention honors.
“The SEC is the best talent. It feels good to be here at Auburn and being around great people,” Gilbert told Rivals.com affiliate Auburn Sports.
Gilbert’s 1st official visit was to Auburn on Oct. 29, with Tennessee and Florida State also among his finalists.
