Matt Rhule was fired by the Carolina Panthers on Monday morning after the head coach went 1-4 through the team’s first 5 games in 2022.

In 2+ years at the helm in Carolina, Rhule compiled an 11-27 overall record, leading to owner David Tepper making the move to fire him on Monday.

Now, many expect Rhule to head back to the college ranks. From 2017 to 2019, Rhule turned Baylor from a 1-11 squad in his first year to an 11-3 team in his third season.

So, where will he end up? Nebraska, Auburn and other schools are among those that could be interested in Rhule.

And, as you can see below, many fans and media members are already excited about the thought of Rhule on The Plains:

Of course, Auburn still has Bryan Harsin employed as its head coach, but many expect his tenure to end sooner rather than later.

We’ll see what happens over the next few months, but Rhule’s name is certainly one to keep an eye on in college football circles.
