The New England Patriots made headlines recently when it was reported that they had signed former Auburn star QB Cam Newton to a contract.

On Wednesday, the Patriots officially announced the signing of the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner and 2015 NFL MVP, who was let go by the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason.

As you can see below, they announced the signing on Twitter with a video of Newton’s Panthers jersey turning into a Patriots jersey:

Newton battled injuries all of last season, appearing in only 2 games for the Panthers. He played in 14 games in 2018, throwing for 3,395 yards and 24 touchdowns. He added 488 yards and 4 touchdowns as a runner.

Will he be able to beat out fellow ex-Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham for the starting job in New England in 2020? We’ll find out as the summer progresses.
