The college football world is mourning the death of former Auburn coach Pat Dye today, as the longtime coach of the Tigers passed away at the age of 80.

Many have weighed in with their tributes, and on Monday evening, Alabama coach Nick Saban issued his statement on the passing of the 4-time SEC champion.

As you can see below, Saban praised Dye’s leadership and the way he impacted people’s lives throughout his career:

“I’ve known and respected Pat Dye for many years, and he always represented college football with tremendous class and integrity,” Saban’s statement reads. “He was an outstanding teacher and coach who affected our game in many significant ways. We are saddened to hear of his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, co-workers and all of the players he had such a positive impact on throughout his distinguished career.”

Dye clearly had a huge impact throughout the SEC, even after his coaching career ended.
