Paul Finebaum has a warning for SEC fans and specifically fans of Texas A&M and Alabama: Don’t sleep on Auburn.

Yes, Hugh Freeze’s team is limping to the finish line of the regular season with a 4-6 record, and beating up on a 5-5 Louisiana-Monroe team in Week 12 doesn’t exactly serve as a precursor to any grand upsets. But the ESPN college football analyst said during his weekly Monday morning appearance on the McElroy & Cubelic In The Morning show that the Tigers could be dangerous down the stretch.

Auburn hosts Texas A&M in primetime this Saturday before heading to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl against Alabama on Nov. 30.

“(They’re) extremely dangerous,” said Finebaum. “And I don’t think it really takes much to say that. This is a good football team. Not a great football team, but a team that has been capable and I frankly think this weekend is extremely dangerous for (Texas) A&M, especially a program who has not looked good on the road, who has the biggest game, maybe in its program history, coming up a week from now.”

Texas A&M didn’t look good at all in its last road game earlier this month, getting blasted at South Carolina and giving up 44 points. The game in a few weeks that Finebaum was referring to is the Aggies’ regular-season finale against rival Texas on Nov. 30 in College Station. Texas A&M is 8-2 and has its Playoff hopes riding on these final 2 games, starting with Saturday night’s test at Auburn.

Finebaum believes Auburn has nothing to lose in these final 2 games, and that alone makes the Tigers dangerous.

“We’ll save the Iron Bowl for next week. I don’t think it takes too much imagination if you’ve watched the last few years,” said Finebaum. “But I think for Hugh Freeze, this is the moment. You beat A&M and you can suddenly turn a season around.”
