Report: Auburn veteran RB has entered the NCAA transfer portal
A veteran Auburn running back could be leaving the program.
According to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, redshirt sophomore running back Harold Joiner has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Joiner is not bound to leave the program by entering his name into the transfer portal but is now eligible to be recruited by other teams.
Out of Mountain Brook, Joiner was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 running back and No. 4 recruit in the state of Alabama for the class of 2018 on the 247Sports Composite. At Auburn, however, he hasn’t lived up to the hype as a highly sought-after recruit.
According to his online bio on Auburn’s official website, Joiner has played in Auburn’s two games this season but did not record any other statistics. He had not been listed among the running backs on the team’s official depth chart.
In 2019, Joiner played in 13 games as a redshirt freshman, rushing 12 times for 94 yards and a touchdown while recording 6 catches for 128 yards and a TD. Joiner redshirted his first season on campus, appearing in two games for the Tigers in 2018, logging 3 rushes for 9 yards.
Joiner had 32 scholarship offers as a recruit, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee. Alabama and Ole Miss joined Auburn as finalists.
