Former Auburn TE Landon Rice left the school just after the start of the 2016 football season due to a sexual assault accusation against him.

On Tuesday, the results of the Title IX investigation the university completed, and the subsequent Notice of Outcome letter that was issued, stating that Rice had been found “responsible” for the assault, were obtained by AL.com.

In documents obtained by AL.com, the Title IX investigation determined that Rice did not have consent to engage in sexual activity with the accuser:

“Although (Rice) claims that he assumed he had affirmative consent, the investigators found that the (female accuser) explicitly told (Rice) she did not want to engage in vaginal intercourse,” according to the university’s Notice of Outcome letter, provided to AL.com by a source who requested anonymity.

As part of his punishment, Rice is barred from stepping foot on the Auburn campus until 2024 and the Notice of Outcome letter will follow him as part of his academic record if and when he applies to other schools.

The SEC, along with the Big 12 and Pac-12 and other schools like Indiana, all have policies against admitting athletes with “serious misconduct” accusations on their records.
