Sal Cannella, former Auburn TE, signs with NFL team after standout season in USFL

Sal Cannella is getting another NFL opportunity. The Green Bay Packers announced the signing of Cannella on Thursday.
Cannella, 25, played at Auburn from 2017-to-2019 after arriving from Scottsdale Community College. Cannella was not drafted out of Auburn. He played in the Spring League in 2020 and ’21. He has previously camped with the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins.
Cannella lands with the Packers after a standout season in the USFL. With the New Orleans Breakers, Cannella earned a spot on the All-USFL team. He was the top pass-catching tight end and No. 6 overall receiver posting 34 catches for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Packers list Cannella at 6-5, 242 pounds, sporting jersey number 80.
