Smoke Monday, a former Auburn safety and current New Orleans Saint, suffered a ‘significant knee injury’ at practice Tuesday.

Monday found his way to New Orleans after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft cycle. The standout safety has drawn praise from teammate Tyrann Mathieu for his ability and study habits, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Monday was a 4-star prospect out of Carver High School in Atlanta and a 4-year player for the Tigers from 2018-2021. He was a star all 4 years at Auburn, totaling 171 tackles 6 sacks and 3 interception return touchdowns off 5 takeaways. He cracked the 2nd team All-SEC team in 2020.

Despite going undrafted, Monday was thought to be making major strides towards contributing in some role for the Saints this season. Now, it seems Monday could spend most of his first year on injured reserve.

Let’s hope for some good news in the coming days.
