Carlton Davis III will miss at least 4-6 weeks with a quad injury, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday afternoon.

The former Auburn defensive back sustained the injury on a second quarter, non-contact special teams play during the Buccaneers’ Week 4 win at New England. He was taken to the locker room and never returned for the second half.

Tampa Bay announced the news through its official team Twitter account Thursday ahead of its Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins:

NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport tweeted a potential timeline for Davis’ return on Thursday. Rapoport noted that Davis’ absence will last for a minimum of three weeks, but likely longer than that.

Before being selected by the Bucs in the 2nd round round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Davis played in 38 career games at Auburn, recording 138 tackles as a three-year starter on The Plains.
