Rebuild that line: Auburn lands commitment from Georgia lineman Tate Johnson

Auburn just picked up a big commitment, literally and figuratively, as Callaway High School product Tate Johnson has ended his recruitment, he’s headed to The Plains.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Hogansville, Ga., native is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 23 offensive guard in the country by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Johnson picked Auburn over Georiga Tech and Florida State.

Johnson’s commitment gives the Tigers nine commitments for the 2020 recruiting cycle and considering Gus Malzahn’s program is poised to lose five senior offensive linemen following the upcoming season, the need for big men up front is huge for Auburn. No surprise then to see that four of the program’s nine commitment come from offensive linemen.
