Jake Briningstool is alone atop the record books at Clemson.
Briningstool became the all-time record holder in Clemson history for receptions made by a tight end on Saturday. After making 3 more catches on Saturday against Virginia Tech, he now has 113 catches in his career.
That’s enough to break the all-time record that was previously held by Jordan Leggett. As Dabo Swinney pointed out after the game, Briningstool is also just 3 touchdowns away from tying the program record as well.
“I’m really happy for that young man,” Swinney said. “He’s worked really hard. He’s chasing that touchdown record too … I’m really happy for him. He’s a great competitor. He’s got a bright, bright future. That’s a great record because we’ve had some really good [tight ends]. Dwayne Allen, Jordan Leggett … again, happy for him.”
So far this season, Briningstool has caught 35 passes for 388 yards and 5 touchdowns. He’s been a significant part of Clemson’s offense for the past 3 seasons.
Clemson will go on the road to face Pittsburgh next weekend.
