Jimbo Fisher now has a pair of openings to fill on his Texas A&M coaching staff as cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist is leaving the Aggie program to make the jump to the NFL.

Once his hometown team the Cowboys came calling, the Dallas native couldn’t pass up the opportunity. A veteran college assistant, Linguist has 13 years of experience coaching in college but has never coached in the NFL.

News of Linguist’s departure from Texas A&M was first reported by Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

Linguist’s departure comes after Aggie tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley left Fisher’s program to join Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. At this time, the Aggies have eight assistant coaches under Fisher, and with the dead period in recruiting coming to an end next week, look for Texas A&M to act quickly to replace at least one of its recent departures.
