South Carolina Gamecocks Baseball

About South Carolina Baseball

South Carolina’s tradition of baseball success dates back to 1970 with the hiring of former New York Yankees infielder Bobby Richardson as its coach. The program continued to thrive under Richardson’s successor June Raines and hit a crescendo when Ray Tanner led the Gamecocks to back-to-back national championships in 2010 and 2011. South Carolina is one of only 6 schools to win consecutive College World Series titles and its 22 straight NCAA Tournament wins between 2010 and 2012 are the most ever.

Its list of former players includes 2000 Golden Spikes Award winner Kip Bouknight and CWS Most Valuable Players Jackie Bradley Jr. (2010) and Scott Wingo (2011).
