It’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge day in college basketball. Ten teams from each conference will face off on Saturday. Since the SEC has 14 teams, there will also be 2 conference contests on the Saturday slate.
Auburn basketball is ranked No. 1 in the nation after last Saturday’s win over Kentucky. AU came dangerously close to losing at Missouri this week but left Columbia with a 55-54 win to improve to 19-1. Bruce Pearl’s squad hosts an unranked Oklahoma team at 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN. Auburn AD Allen Greene revealed Friday night that Pearl has agreed to an extension. Pearl said he’ll be coaching the Tigers “for a long, long time.”
Speaking of ESPN, the “College GameDay” crew (Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, LaPhonso Ellis and Seth Greenberg) is at Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse ahead of the No. 5 Jayhawks’ game against No. 12 Kentucky, the only SEC/Big 12 Challenge game featuring 2 ranked teams. It’s also the first GameDay campus show since the 2020 season. The battle of basketball blue bloods is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The SEC/Big 12 Challenge plus 2 conference games make for a full day of basketball, starting at noon on ESPN2 and wrapping with the SEC Network’s 8:30 p.m. ET tip. Here’s the full SEC schedule for the day:
