Bruce Pearl is staying at Auburn. On Friday night, AU athletic director Allen Greene took to Twitter to share a video announcement from he and the Tiger basketball head coach.

“War Eagle, Auburn family! Hey, tonight’s a great night. I’ve got a big surprise for you: we locked him up,” Greene said before turning the camera to reveal Pearl.

“It wasn’t that hard,” Pearl said, saying he’s grateful to Greene, the administration and everyone involved.

“My family and I are going to be able to stay and be your basketball coach for a long, long time.”

Greene’s tweet notably uses the lock emoji with the words “for life.”

The announcement comes after Pearl was linked to the Louisville opening. The Tigers are 157-93 under Pearl, who has been at Auburn since the 2014-15 season. This year’s AU squad is 19-1 and ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25.

Auburn hosts Oklahoma in Saturday’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
