About Boston College Basketball
BC came into prominence as a charter member of the old Big East, first under Naismith Hall of Famer Gary Williams, then later with alumnus Jim O’Brien and Al Skinner coaching on the sidelines. The Eagles won 4 regular-season conference titles and made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances during their 26 Big East seasons.
They carried that success over to the ACC by winning a school-record 28 games. advancing to the conference tournament championship game and finishing with a No. 7 national ranking in their inaugural season of 2005-06. Jared Dudley was named ACC Player of the Year the following season and in 2007-08, they scored upsets of both No. 1 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke on the way to another 20–plus win record and NCAA Tournament berth.
But BC has fallen upon hard times since Skinner’s departure in 2010. It has managed only 4 winning records in the past 15 seasons and have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2009.
