An arrest has been made in the shooting death of University of Utah cornerback Aaron Lowe.
According to ESPN, 22-year-old Buk M. Buk was detained early Sunday morning in Draper, Utah. He was charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder and felony discharge of a firearm.
Lowe was shot and killed at a party in Salt Lake City on September 26. Another victim, a 20-year-old female, was also shot during the incident and remains in critical condition.
Salt Lake City Chief of Police Mike Brown, in a publicly released statement, credited the local community for proving tips that lead to Buk’s arrest.
Said Brown: “In a time of need, we turned to our community. We asked people to come forward and to share the information they had. Because of those tips and the unrelenting pursuit of justice from our homicide detectives, we have arrested the person accused of murdering Aaron Lowe. So many lives have been impacted from this senseless shooting.”
Lowe, a native of Mesquite, Texas, was just 21 years old.
