One college football bowl game will feature an edible mascot on hand for the 2023-24 bowl season. Yes, you read that right, and the horrific story does not stop there.

Per Nicole Auerbach with The Athletic, the Pop-Tarts Bowl (formerly known as the Cheez-It Bowl) in Orlando will have an edible mascot. The bowl also announced the mascot would be consumed with players from the winning team running to take a bit from the giant pastry mascot immediately after the final whistle.

That is certainly an odd visual to try and digest, and yes, the pun is absolutely intended. But, if you’re wondering how that scene plays out, you can see it all Thursday, Dec. 28 with a 5:45 pm ET broadcast of the game.

The bowl game will feature teams from the ACC and the Big 12, but fans are more concerned about the recently revealed mascot angle. The college football world understandably had a field day with that announcement:
