A college football official was reportedly suspended by the ACC after blowing a call that had a major impact on the Notre Dame-Cal game in Week 3.

Linesman Matthew Fitzgerald called Cal offsides on a crucial field-goal attempt by the Irish, but upon review, the Bears were nowhere near being offsides.

That led to the report that Fitzgerald had been suspended for Week 4. But, it turns out he ended up working a Notre Dame game for the second week in a row:

The fact that the ACC assigned Fitzgerald to a second-straight Notre Dame game will cause many college football fans to raise their eyebrows.

We can guarantee Fitzgerald won’t work a Notre Dame game this weekend, as the Irish have an open date. They travel to Syracuse on Oct. 29, though, so we’ll see what assignment Fitzgerald draws that weekend.
