College football team switching bowl games after others’ COVID issues

The COVID-related craziness of the college football Bowl Season has a team switching games. Jim McElwain’s Central Michigan Chippewas have been released from the Arizona Bowl and will now play Washington State in the Sun Bowl.

CMU replaces Miami in the Sun Bowl. The Hurricanes could not play WSU due to COVID-19 issues. Boise State similarly had to withdraw from the Arizona Bowl due to cases within the program.
The Arizona Bowl’s announcement said the game was being canceled due to a program’s COVID spike.
The Sun Bowl is set for noon ET on Friday, Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas.
