After 23 serving as a head coach in college football, Ohio has just announced Frank Solich has resigned from his position as leader of the program. Following this news, Ohio has named offensive coordinator Tim Albin the program’s new head coach, giving him a four-year deal.

During his time at Ohio, Solich led Ohio to four Mid-American Conference East titles and eleven bowl appearances.

“After fifty-five years in coaching, including 16 at Ohio University, it is time for me to step away to focus on a cardiovascular health issue,” said Solich. “I’ve appreciated the support of Bobcat fans over the years, and I know they will continue to support Coach Albin. After working directly with Tim for 21 consecutive years, including six at the University of Nebraska, it’s clear to me he is prepared to continue our work and move the program forward. I am happy for Tim and his family.”

The longtime Nebraska assistant took over in Lincoln after legendary coach Tom Osborne retired. Solich served as Nebraska head coach from 1998-2003, going 58-19 during that time.

After a down season in 2003, Nebraska replaced Solich with NFL coach Bill Callahan.

Solich then went on to Ohio, where he led the program to an overall record of 115-82 during his 17-year run.
