Jalen Hurts dazzled in his debut with Oklahoma, and exiting Week 1, it’s hard not to argue that Hurts is the Heisman frontrunner.

The former Alabama quarterback connected on 20-of-23 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns, too.

Hurts joined elite company in former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel as the only college football players in the last 15 years to throw for 300-plus yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 150-plus yards and three touchdowns in a single game. He was unstoppable Sunday night as Oklahoma beat Houston 49-31.

After the game, however, Hurts wasn’t all smiles; rather, he was focussed on his team fixing the issues that plagued them throughout the game. From where he stands right now, he knows that Sooners’ defense (gave up 31 points and 408 yards to Houston) won’t cut it come College Football Playoff time.

Following the game, Hurts had a very Nick Saban-like postgame interview with ESPN.
