Michigan State-Ohio State referees make embarrassing mistake before first play

College football officials are always traveling around the country. Sometimes, it may be hard to keep track of where exactly they’re at on a given Saturday, especially if it’s been a busy stretch of games.
It appears at least 1 official on the Big Ten crew for Saturday’s Michigan State-Ohio State game may have had some difficulty remembering where the matchup was being played.
Ahead of the coin toss, this is what an official asked the Spartans’ captains:
"Michigan State, you're the visitors, right?" That's how officials started coin toss. MSU wins toss, defers. OSU to get the ball first.

Yes, the game was in fact being played in Columbus. And if that official didn’t remember then, it likely didn’t take long for him to confirm where the matchup was being played.
That’s because Ohio Stadium wasted no time in getting loud, with the Buckeyes taking a 14-0 lead over the Spartans by the midway point of the first quarter.
