Now that the SEC is adding Texas and Oklahoma to the conference at some point over the next few years, the other Power 5 conferences seem to be scrambling.

But, while there are talks of an ACC/Big Ten/Pac-12 alliance, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum wonders if another solution might be better than an alliance for the Big Ten.

During an appearance on “Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin” on Monday, Finebaum said USC and Oregon should leave the Pac-12 and join the Big Ten instead (via 247Sports):

“Oregon is a very attractive national brand and then one of the biggest brands of all-time in college football, you can say it, USC,” Finebaum said Monday on Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin. “That would make the Big Ten as powerful as the SEC or the ACC with Notre Dame, but other than that, there aren’t that many cards.”

As Finebaum suggests, adding brand names like Oregon and USC would greatly benefit the Big Ten on a national scale.

However, it would also give us USC-Rutgers and Oregon-Maryland matchups, which are games that would be very weird to see as part of the Big Ten schedule. We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks, but realignment is still just getting started.
