Report: Colorado hiring longtime NFL, former Vanderbilt assistant Karl Dorrell as new head coach
The Colorado coaching search has taken a number of twists and turns over the past few days, but it appears it is coming to an end.
Per reports on Saturday evening, the Buffaloes will turn to a longtime NFL assistant and former Vanderbilt offensive coordinator for the job.
According to Cameron Wolfe, Miami Dolphins assistant head coach/WR coach Karl Dorrell is the new coach for Colorado:
Dolphins assistant HC/WR coach Karl Dorrell is taking the University of Colorado HC job, source confirms. @PeteThamel first on CU-Dorrell connection. Dorrell was just promoted this week and played a key role in DeVante Parker’s breakout 2019 season. He gets to be a HC again.

Dorrell has Pac-12 experience, having coached UCLA from 2003 to 2007. He went 35-27 in that 5-year stretch, making it to a bowl game all 5 seasons.
However, since 2007, he has only been back at the college level once, serving as Vanderbilt’s offensive coordinator in 2014 before returning to the NFL ranks.
