Changes are coming at USC with Lynn Swann resigning from his position as the school’s athletic director. Could the next move feature the football team?

Sure, Clay Helton has gotten the Trojans off to a 2-0 start this season, leading them to a win over Stanford this past weekend despite starting quarterback J.T. Daniels being out for the season. It was a victory fueled by true freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis in a remarkable debut.

But with Swann gone, the rumors of USC potentially going after Urban Meyer, the former Florida and Ohio State head coach who retired at the end of last season, are only going to heat up.

It didn’t take long for Twitter to start speculating about the possibility of Meyer heading to the Trojans on Monday:

Meyer had a successful coaching career, winning three national championships, but he said he was stepping down for health reasons after last season. His tenure at Ohio State also ended with some controversy, as his final year began with him being placed on administrative leave due to reports that he knew about spousal abuse allegations made against one of his former assistants.

Once USC has its new athletic director in place, it’s possible that these Meyer rumors become even more frequent. Only time will tell if they come to fruition.
