TNT Sports announcer J.B. Long had a commentator jinx he won’t forget during TruTV’s broadcast of Colorado State vs. UTEP on Saturday.

The Rams led the Miners, 21-3, with around 4 minutes gone by in the 3rd quarter. And to that point, both teams had played penalty-free football for a half-plus.

Long, calling the game alongside Mike Golic Jr., attempted to make note of the situation.

“I’ll hold my tongue, but there’s a noticeable box score statistic, Golic, that we may need to address here before too much more time passes,” Long said.

No sooner had Long finished the sentence than whistles blew to signal a flag – a false start against Colorado State.

“I don’t even believe in it. The broadcaster jinx is not a thing, but oh my gosh, the first penalty of the game,” Long said as Golic needled him. “As if it were scripted. My bad.”

Whether you’re a believer in that kind of thing or not, one thing’s for sure: Long couldn’t have picked a worse time for his comment.

As for the Rams, they’re looking to improve to 2-2 while sending the Miners to an 0-4 start.
